AI training jobs for psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists
· By Alex Westfield / Micro1 Partner
Short answer: AI companies need mental health experts to check how their models handle sensitive topics. You write and review case studies, assess risk and explain the right response. On Oct 16, 2026 micro1 lists 13 mental health roles. The 8 bilingual psychiatrist and PhD psychologist roles list $100 to $200 an hour, and the adolescent specialist roles list $45 to $95. All are remote contract roles.
What the work involves
Bilingual psychiatrists and psychologists. The Bilingual Japanese Psychiatrist posting lists these tasks:
- Develop and evaluate complex psychiatric case studies with real-world, culturally nuanced scenarios.
- Write expert annotations that reflect psychiatric practice in that culture.
- Write clear analyses in both Japanese and English.
- Review sensitive case content ethically and protect confidentiality.
- Give feedback on how AI systems evaluate mental health situations.
The PhD psychologist roles are similar. You assess case studies, build culturally sensitive scenarios in two languages and check AI content for accuracy and ethics.
Adolescent specialists. Four roles cover suicide and self-harm, eating disorders, substance use, and safeguarding and exploitation. The Adolescent Suicide & Self-Harm Specialist posting asks you to:
- Review adolescent case materials and write structured risk assessments.
- Use validated tools such as C-SSRS and tell ideation, intent and acute risk apart.
- Recommend responses, including escalation, safety planning and means restriction.
- Write guidance plain enough that non-specialists can act on it.
The eating disorder role works with DSM-5, EDE-Q and SCOFF and with medical stability frameworks such as MEED. The substance use role uses DSM-5 SUD criteria and ASAM.
Behavioral Analyst. This role annotates tone, gesture and speech patterns in text, audio and video. The posting names behavioral therapists and counselors as good fits, and also theater and acting coaches.
Who qualifies
- Bilingual psychiatrists: MD, MBBS or equivalent, completed psychiatry residency and a valid medical license. Native fluency in Cantonese, Japanese, Vietnamese or Georgian and advanced English.
- Bilingual psychologists: PhD in psychology with clinical and academic experience. Native or near-native fluency in the language and in English.
- Adolescent specialists: 3 to 5 or more years after qualifying, working directly with adolescents. You need an active license or registration and an adolescent caseload within the past two years. Written English at native level or equivalent (the postings give IELTS 7.5+ or TOEFL 100+ as examples).
- Behavioral Analyst: a background in behavioral therapy, counseling, acting coaching or similar. Open in North America, Latin America, the UK, Europe and Oceania.

How the contract setup works
Every role on this page is a micro1 contractor role. You are not a micro1 employee. The postings list the location as remote and the work hours as flexible.
Applying is free. You sign up on micro1, upload a resume and do an AI interview. micro1 then matches people to customer projects as the projects open.
A match is not instant. Some people wait weeks. Some are never matched to a project. Pay is per hour worked, so your income depends on how many hours the project has. Keep your current work until you know what a project looks like.
Postings close and new ones open often. The rates and role counts on this page are a snapshot from the date at the top. The full roles list is updated more often than these guides.
How to apply, step by step
- Open the full roles list or the table on this page and pick a role that matches your background.
- Read the posting on micro1. Check the location rules and the qualifications before you start.
- Click Apply and create a free micro1 account. Upload your resume.
- Complete micro1's AI interview when it asks. It is a short recorded conversation about your experience. Do it somewhere quiet.
- Name your license or degree, your clinical setting and the populations you work with. For the bilingual roles, say where you trained and practiced in that language.
- Wait for micro1 to contact you about a match. Questions about your application go to micro1, not to this site.
The adolescent postings say micro1 often fills these roles within 48 hours, so apply soon if one fits you.
Is this a good fit for you?
It suits clinicians who want remote, flexible work next to a caseload, and bilingual clinicians whose language skills are hard to find. Some of the case material is distressing by design. It is contract work, and hours depend on the project.
