Remote AI training jobs for translators and bilingual speakers
· By Alex Westfield / Micro1 Partner
Short answer: AI companies pay native speakers to transcribe audio, check translations and judge how natural AI sounds in their language. On Oct 16, 2026 micro1 lists 33 language roles with listed pay of $6 to $200 an hour. Most are remote contract work with flexible hours, and you do not need AI experience.
What the work involves
Speech and chat models learn from examples. Someone fluent has to write those examples and fix the mistakes. That is the job.
The Cantonese Transcription Expert posting describes the typical tasks:
- Transcribe and tag audio in your language and in English.
- Fix transcripts a machine made first.
- Catch accents, dialect and context that the machine missed.
- Deliver clean, time-stamped transcripts in the required format.
- Ask the project lead when a recording is unclear.
The Japanese Language Expert posting adds translation work between Japanese and English and feedback on the transcription process. Other roles go in different directions. One evaluates Cantonese language quality. One reviews Spanish consumer content. One is for voice actors and coaches.
Who qualifies
- Native or near-native fluency in the target language. Several postings ask for knowledge of regional dialects.
- Strong English, because most tasks pair your language with English.
- Experience in transcription, translation, interpreting or language review. Prior data annotation is a plus in some postings.
- Comfort with transcription tools and typing in your script. The Cantonese role asks for both traditional and simplified Chinese.
- The discipline to work alone and hit deadlines.
Licensed clinicians who are bilingual have a separate track. 8 roles want psychiatrists or PhD psychologists who speak Cantonese, Japanese, Vietnamese or Georgian.

How the contract setup works
Every role on this page is a micro1 contractor role. You are not a micro1 employee. The postings list the location as remote and the work hours as flexible.
Applying is free. You sign up on micro1, upload a resume and do an AI interview. micro1 then matches people to customer projects as the projects open.
A match is not instant. Some people wait weeks. Some are never matched to a project. Pay is per hour worked, so your income depends on how many hours the project has. Keep your current work until you know what a project looks like.
Postings close and new ones open often. The rates and role counts on this page are a snapshot from the date at the top. The full roles list is updated more often than these guides.
How to apply, step by step
- Open the full roles list or the table on this page and pick a role that matches your background.
- Read the posting on micro1. Check the location rules and the qualifications before you start.
- Click Apply and create a free micro1 account. Upload your resume.
- Complete micro1's AI interview when it asks. It is a short recorded conversation about your experience. Do it somewhere quiet.
- Say exactly which languages and dialects you speak, and how you learned them. Mention any transcription or translation work you have done.
- Wait for micro1 to contact you about a match. Questions about your application go to micro1, not to this site.
Apply to the role that names your language. If two levels exist, as with Japanese and Korean, read both postings and pick the one your experience fits.
Is this a good fit for you?
It suits translators and interpreters who want remote work between clients. It also suits bilingual people who type fast and have a good ear. The rates vary a lot by language, so compare the listed pay with what you earn now before you commit time.
