AI training jobs for finance professionals and investment bankers
· By Alex Westfield / Micro1 Partner
Short answer: AI labs pay bankers, analysts and accountants to test how their models handle valuation, modeling and markets. You grade AI answers, build or fix models and write the reference answers. On Oct 16, 2026 micro1 lists 11 finance roles with listed pay of $30 to $350 an hour. All are remote contract roles, and the postings say no AI experience is needed.
What the work involves
The Investment & Finance Expert posting says micro1 is "partnering with a leading AI lab" to hire people from investment banking, private equity, venture capital and hedge funds. The tasks are:
- Assess AI outputs on valuation, financial modeling, markets and investment analysis.
- Write expert-level prompts and reference answers based on real deal experience.
- Flag errors, weak reasoning and unrealistic assumptions.
- Give domain feedback that shapes how the model behaves.
Other roles go deeper into one craft:
- Investment Banking Expert: company and industry research, target screening, comps, and building and troubleshooting Excel valuation and transaction models. You also critique pitchbook-style materials for numerical errors and weak logic.
- Equity Research Expert and Equity/Investment Research Analyst: earnings analysis, estimate revisions, peer benchmarking, written evaluations of company models and investment theses.
- Quantitative Rates Researcher: review AI-written rates research and trading strategies for lookahead bias, overfitting, data snooping and unrealistic transaction costs.
- Finance Specialist: rebuild and improve PowerPoint slides that present financial data, so they are accurate and investor-ready.
- Senior Accountant Expert: review financial statements, audit procedures, tax compliance and financial models.
Who qualifies
- Investment Banking Expert: preferably a former Senior Associate (ideally third year) or VP on an M&A or coverage team at a leading bank, M&A boutique or sector advisory firm, with live deal experience and strong Excel modeling.
- Investment & Finance Expert: at least one year at a well-known financial firm or legitimate startup (IB, PE, VC, hedge fund or growth equity), part of it in the past 7 years. It also asks for an undergraduate degree from a top-ranked university and residence in an English-speaking country.
- Equity research roles: sell-side Research Associate experience with ownership of models and written research, or a publishing lead analyst. You should have covered companies through several earnings cycles.
- Quantitative Rates Researcher: building and backtesting systematic rates strategies at a hedge fund, asset manager or bank, and Python or R.
- Senior Accountant Expert: a degree in accounting, finance or economics, experience preparing and auditing financial statements, and a title such as CPA, cost accountant or auditor.

How the contract setup works
Every role on this page is a micro1 contractor role. You are not a micro1 employee. The postings list the location as remote and the work hours as flexible.
Applying is free. You sign up on micro1, upload a resume and do an AI interview. micro1 then matches people to customer projects as the projects open.
A match is not instant. Some people wait weeks. Some are never matched to a project. Pay is per hour worked, so your income depends on how many hours the project has. Keep your current work until you know what a project looks like.
Postings close and new ones open often. The rates and role counts on this page are a snapshot from the date at the top. The full roles list is updated more often than these guides.
How to apply, step by step
- Open the full roles list or the table on this page and pick a role that matches your background.
- Read the posting on micro1. Check the location rules and the qualifications before you start.
- Click Apply and create a free micro1 account. Upload your resume.
- Complete micro1's AI interview when it asks. It is a short recorded conversation about your experience. Do it somewhere quiet.
- Name your firm type, your title and the deal, coverage or audit work you did. Most of these postings ask for recent experience, so give dates.
- Wait for micro1 to contact you about a match. Questions about your application go to micro1, not to this site.
If you came from consulting rather than finance, the consultant guide covers the strategy and slide review roles.
Is this a good fit for you?
It suits former bankers, analysts and accountants who want remote project work, and people between roles. You need to enjoy finding mistakes in a model or a deck and explaining them clearly. It is contract work, and the number of hours depends on the project.
